Meanwhile, a talented and rousing band called SQUADRON from the Stuttgart area remained undiscovered (until today). Even on Encyclopedia Metallum you won‘t find an entry with the two demos they recorded in 1984 and 1985. Not yet. The band was founded in 1983, influenced by Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Warrior, Manowar, Ozzy Osbourne and Dio. One of the first shows took place as the support act for Tyrant. They quickly gained a reputation as a gigantic live band, especially as they not only paid attention to polished songs, but also to their outfit and show. Just a few months later, 400 fans came to the Neckerhalle Esslingen, even though Accept were playing just around the corner on the same day. They also broke the audience record in “Die Röhre” Stuttgart, where they put on a big show after the second demo. Of course, bigger labels were also in touch, but no contract was signed. This band could have gone far back then...
