Wildernessking - Mystical Future

Starting out as a Black n’roll project called Heathens in 2010, the band quickly morphed into a progressive force, encompassing many genres and styles on the way. By freeing their music from the fossilized notion of musical genre, Wildernessking manages to blend various influences together with the sole purpose of expressing a wide range of emotions. From Post-Rock sounds and structures to harsh Black Metal vocals and blast beats, Wildernessking travels seamlessly from one world to another. From the very beginning, the band has managed to express its personality through its unique universe and mature music. In 2012, Wildernessking release The Writing of Gods in the Sand via Antithetic Records and already establish an identity that has only grown stronger with each release. Wildernessking’s critically hailed EPs And the Night Swept Us Away (2012) and The Devil Within (2014) further asserted the band’s vision and personality. While often compared to Cascadian Black metal, Wildernessking’s music is rooted beyond labels and does not lend itself to limitations. In 2014, Wildernessking was the only African band to appear on Elemental Nightmares, a vinyl project consisting of 26 bands and spanning 7 ten-inch split albums, released over the course of the year. 2015 saw the band releasing their track, Soundless Longing, for the Secret Ceremonies compilation, an album featuring forward-thinking South African bands, which will see a physical release in 2016. Wildernessking’s second full length, Mystical Future, was mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Bosse-De-Nage) and will be released in 2016 on Sick Man Getting Sick Records (LP), Grimoire Cassette Cvlture and Monotonstudio Records (tape) and Les Acteurs de l’Ombre Productions (cd). Made up of five tracks harmoniously weaving Post-Rock and Progressive Black Metal, Mystical Future is the pinnacle of Wildernessking’s work. A perfectly mastered balance of genres whose fluidity is expertly highlighted by the sound of the album.
